Attract Customers to your Shop with a Fun Event

Events can be a fantastic to create a buzz around your shop, both bringing in new customers and promoting loyalty with those who have visited you before.

Your event could be your shop’s anniversary, a bank holiday or you could even create your own occasion e.g. ‘Big Stitch Saturday’ or ‘Patchwork Party’. Pick a day that is likely to be popular such as a weekend or public holiday to help maximise attendance. 

Make it fun

Think about how you can make the occasion special and offer something extra that will bring visitors in. This might include:
  • Free workshop tasters
  • ‘How to’ demonstrations
  • Make and takes
  • Competitions and raffles
  • Discounts on selected items
  • Refreshments – tea, cake and more
Shout About It!

Be sure to promote your event well in advance. There are plenty of ways to do this including:
  • Social media
  • Local press
  • Community notice boards
  • Your website
  • By email - if you have a customer contact list
  • Encourage workshop students to bring friends
  • Inside and outside the shop itself.

Sew Saturday on the 15th October is a great example of such an event. It is a celebration of independent bricks and mortar fabric shops and is organised annually as a nationwide event.
