Stockist of the Month: Crafty Sew & Sew

Award winning haberdashery shop Crafty Sew & Sew offer a wide selection of fabrics including Michael Miller and Riley Blake plus workshops for dressmakers and quilters, with products also available from their online shop.
Despite only opening their current premises in September 2015, Crafty Sew & Sew were winners of the British Sewing Awards Best Sew Saturday Event and were also runners up in the category Best Independent Haberdashery Shop in the Midlands.

We caught up with Crafty Sew & Sew’s Sarah Wadey to find out more about the reasons for the team’s success, her passion and future plans.
What do you offer that makes you stand out from other retailers?
Our store is modern, bright and uncluttered. We pride ourselves on our customer service but the truth is we're just really nosey and want to know what everyone else is making too!
What are you passionate about?
Encouraging others to sew, sharing product advice and teaching sewing skills in our workshops.

How do you choose what you stock?
We listen to what our customers ask for, read blogs and follow vlogs to keep track of the latest pattern releases and new products and use our own instincts - if we discover something we've been trying to find for ages our customers probably have been too! We always aim to have something a bit different in store, whether that be perle embroidery threads, independent patterns or a brand new state of the art sewing machine!
What do you love about quilting?
I love how making quilts allows you to experiment with colour and print mixing - I can never choose just one fabric so patchwork allows me to combine them all!
What projects are you working on at the minute?
I am working on a very special dress for the Dressmakers Ball which takes place in Leicester at the City Rooms on May 12th.
I am also working on a Grainline Studios Morris Blazer - this is a great cover up for those iffy British weather days!
Are there any future plans you wish to share with us?
As well as our jam-packed timetable of regular workshops, we love organising special events at Crafty Sew & So! We stated the year with a bang hosting our first ever Dressmakers Meetup, it was so great to see the shop so busy and buzzing with our fellow fabric loving friends. We're looking forward to hosting another one in the Autumn along with a craft fair in the Summer and perhaps another Dressmakers Ball next year - or maybe something completely different! Watch this space!
