Sewing Week - celebrate your local craft shops

In an age of online retail, Sewing Week is all about celebrating what's great about going to a bricks and mortar store - being able to see and touch fabric, ask the staff for advice, take part in workshops and meet like-minded stitchers.

Initially launched five years ago by Sew Magazine and its sister publications; this weekend event is now expanding into a six day celebration - a wonderful week of sewing that helps local sewing shops and participating stores will join the excitement with competitions, discounts and giveaways.

What is happening each day?

Motivational Monday

Sewing Week starts here! If you're stuck in a stitching rut, or looking for new projects to bring back your mo-jo, now is the time to get inspired. This day is designed to help you reach new sewing heights.

Pattern Tuesday

Introducing day two of Sewing Week! This is your chance to delve in and discover the latest and best looks from Sew Magazine's favourite independent pattern designers. A free dressmaking pattern from Sew's archives, will be available to collect from selected stores across the UK.

Workshop Wednesday

You can’t beat popping along to your local brick ‘n’ mortar store to get practical hands-on advice and guidance from tutors, and this day will help you discover what’s available locally to you.

Discount Thursday

Whether you’re looking for a little treat or investing in a dream machine, Discount Thursday is the day for amazing discounts on fabrics, patterns, habby essentials and much more. Simply pop along to your local independent sewing store and fill your boots with your favourites.

Fat Quarter Friday

Bags, toys, quilt blocks... There’s just something about a fat quarter that’s filled with endless stitching possibilities! Offering huge variety at a low price, this day will show you how to make the most of this versatile fabric form.

Sew Saturday

Now in its fifth consecutive year, Sew Saturday is back with a bang! For this year’s event, your local signed-up stores will be provided with an exclusive event pack containing patterns for Sew Saturday's new llama mascots, along with embroidered felt designs for kids, and a colourful patchwork cushion for grown-up stitchers, too! You’ll also find fun #SewSelfie booths, plus delicious tea and cake.
