November Stockist of the Month: Rosie's Craft Shop

Founder Rosie Wragg first got involved with craft as a hobby, making bows and clothes for her youngest daughter. Rosie's Craft Shop is now a thriving family business with husband Jonny and daughter Kimberley joining the business. As an online business, Rosie's Craft Shop has used social media to get to know their customers better and create a sense of community. The shop offers a wide range of fabrics that Rosie knows her customers will love and she knows will make great projects, including the new Guess How Much I Love You by Clothworks and Liberty's The Orchard Garden.

We chatted to Rosie to find out more about the business and her inspiration...

Tell us about the history of your shop and the team?
Rosie’s Craft Shop was born through my love of all things craft related. I have always loved creating and when my youngest daughter was little, I used to make her bows and clothes and what started off as a hobby soon turned into a handmade business which inspired me to create a retail business to enable other crafters to find high quality products at reasonable prices. Something I had spent many, many hours researching as a buyer, I knew was something I could offer as a supplier.

I have been a craft supplier for over 12 years now and over the years we have rebranded and expanded into what you see today. It’s a true family business. I persuaded my husband Jonny to retire over 2 years ago and he now runs the business with me full time and our daughter Kimberley is a huge part of it too!

What do you offer that makes you stand out from other retailers?
We offer a wide range of fabrics, haberdashery and craft supplies which enables our customers to have a one-stop shopping experience and with our dedicated support team on hand to help and offer help and advice it doesn’t end with us once your order is delivered. We have a Customer group on Facebook where we keep in touch with our customers offering help and advice on their makes and sharing tutorials and inspiration. It’s a community of like-minded crafters and it adds the personal experience that some of our customers would otherwise miss with us being an online based business. We love to involve our customers when it comes to deciding on new stock and appreciate all their input when deciding which new fabrics and ranges to bring in and this group is a great place for that.
Many of our customers have small businesses too and we love to support them by sharing their makes on all our Social Media channels.

What are you passionate about?
We are extremely passionate about what we do. We strive to provide a fantastic range at great prices with excellent customer service and we are both very hands on. We work as a team. Jonny is the king of cutting and Kimberley takes care of the admin and packing with Caroline and I get the best job of choosing the fabrics, photography, social media and creating content for our YouTube channel. Our love for what we do shines through and our customers have always been our priority.

How do you choose what you stock?
I love anything pink and if it has sparkle then that’s a bonus and it’s likely to appear on our shelves! My own personal tastes and what I want to make influence what we stock too if I see a fabric and have a project in mind it’s on the order. I love to choose fabrics with projects and customers in mind. I know my customers and what they like and I listen to all their feedback and their long lists of requests!  As a crafter myself, if there is something I want to make then I will stock every supply needed to make it! I genuinely use all our products in my own makes and I share these with customers to inspire and we create kits and tutorials to provide everything they need to create it.

What do you love about quilting?
Quilting is quite a new craft to me, while I have always sewn it’s been clothing and furnishings but I am fascinated by the patterns and creations I see and I am having fun learning!

What project are you working on at the minute?
At the minute, when I can, I am working on a clothing range using the Riley Blake Guinivere collection and I’m in love with Clothworks' Guess How Much I Love You so I will be making a nursery collection in that. which I am doing alongside my first quilt using Liberty’s The Orchard Garden collection.

Are there any future plans you wish to share with us?
We are currently working on our planned expansion into stocking machine embroidery supplies and choosing our range of supplies and notions and working on more exclusive designs for our die cutters toward with our fabrics that we make into fabric felt. Lots in the pipeline for 2019 it’s going to be an exciting year!
