Quilter’s Starter Kit from Omnigrid

New to this country is a kit designed to help newcomers to quilting get started. Unlike other "starter kits" this version does not contain a rotary cutter, mat and ruler but rather a set of five acrylic templates for 48 block variations and projects, adhesive felt grips, step-by-step instructions in full colour, time saving techniques and yardage charts plus supply lists for a number of quilt sizes.
The kit has been designed by the internationally known teacher Sharlene Jorgensen and manufactured by Omnigrid in America. Included with the simple-to-follow instructions are details of how to create nine different designs, both traditional and fun. A 28mm cutter is recommended for the various blocks featured in the kit but a 45mm size will work just as well.
While it is not the complete answer to a beginner’s prayers, the product goes a long way to taking some of the mystique out of the craft and will be a very useful tool for those just setting out.
